SAUK RAPIDS -- Some traffic changes are coming over the next several days as part of the Golden Spike Road project in Sauk Rapids.

Starting tomorrow (Wednesday), the ramps on the west side of Highway 10 and the roundabout there will open to traffic.

On Friday, the roundabout at 10th Avenue Northeast will open to traffic. At that time, a new detour route will be created and 10th Avenue Northeast will be open between County Road 1 and Golden Spike Road.

The intersection of County Road 1 and Golden Spike Road will then close to traffic Friday so the new roundabout can be built there.

Then on Monday, August 25th, both ramps on eastbound Highway 10 will be closed for the construction of a new roundabout.

Officials say due to weather delays Golden Spike Road won't open in time for the start of school at Sauk Rapids High School.

The project is expected to be completed by late September or early October.
