January 26th, 2010 -- that's a date Cory Broich and his family remember vividly.  It's the day 28-year-old Boich -- a Clearwater volunteer firefighter -- responded to a car fire on Interstate 94.  While he was on the scene he was hit by a passing car, pinning him between the vehicle and the fire truck.

Broich says his recovery in the past 11 months since the accident has been up and down.

He says he has been walking on and off since late summer.  But the doctors say he still has at least a couple more years of physical therapy ahead of him.  They don't know yet if he'll have to have any more surgeries.

Broich says 2010 has been a challenging year for him and his whole family.
