Three State Fair Swine Barn Visitors Show Flu Symptoms

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Department of Health says three people developed swine flu symptoms after exhibiting pigs or spending time at the Minnesota State Fair's swine barn.

One of the three cases has been confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control as of Friday and test results are pending on the other two. The strain is different from another swine flu variant that prompted stepped up surveillance and prevention efforts nationwide.

The confirmed case was in a teenage girl exhibiting pigs at the fair. The two other cases are in an elementary school-aged boy who spent all day in the swine barn, and a woman in her 70s who spent a prolonged period of time in the swine barn and at a swine show.

All three patients are recovering.
