GLENDORADO TOWNSHIP -- A 16-year-old Elk River boy had to be treated at the hospital after a pheasant hunting accident Sunday afternoon.

Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett says deputies were called to a hunting preserve in Glendorado Township at about 3:15 p.m. Officers found Brandon Rischmiller suffering from a shotgun wound to the foot.

Rischmiller was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies learned the trigger had caught on a loop on Rischmiller's hunting vest, causing the gun to fire.
