MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Prosecutors plan to bring a 17-year-old arrested in Missouri back to Minnesota to face charges that he fatally shot his girlfriend last month.

The Hennepin County Attorney's office said Friday the teen has been charged in a juvenile petition with second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old of Ayan Abdulahi of Bloomington.

Authorities say Abdulahi was shot in the head as she lay on a bed in the teen's room in an apartment in south Minneapolis.

According to the juvenile petition, the teen was staying with his aunt and uncle. On April 11, the uncle heard a gunshot and saw his nephew run out the back door.

The teen was arrested in Kansas City. Prosecutors will ask to have him tried as an adult.
