The Vikings have reportedly acquired tight end Chris Herndon from the New York Jets in exchange for a 2022 4th round draft pick. The Vikings also get a 6th round in 2022 from the Jets. The Vikings will play at least one week without starting tight end Irv Smith Jr. due to meniscus surgery.

The Vikings announced that former Defensive Tackle Kevin Williams will be inducted into the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor this season. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says Williams was one of the best defensive players in franchise history.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter agreed to restructure his contract and will attend this week's minicamp and will be at training camp on time. He says the Vikings could go from having one of the worst defensive lines in the NFL to having one of the best with the additions of Hunter, Michael Pierce, Dalvin Tomlinson and Sheldon Richardson.

The Vikings' defensive end Danielle Hunter has expressed interest in a new contract. The Vikings haven't done much to acknowledge his concerns but it could be coming to a head. The Vikings have agreed to sign free agent cornerback Brashaud Breeland over the weekend. The 29-year old started 32 games over 2 seasons including 6 postseason games for the Kansas City Chiefs. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan says this is a significant signing he expects the pecking order at cornerback to start with Cam Dantzler, Breeland, Mackensie Alexander, Jeff Gladney, Patrick Peterson and Tye Smith.

The Vikings selected left tackle Christian Darrisaw from Virginia Tech in the 1st round and guard Wyatt Davis from Ohio State in the 3rd round. Star Tribune Sports Columinst Jim Souhan says the Vikings likely found their starting left tackle and left guard in the draft this past weekend.

The first round of the NFL draft is tonight starting at 7 p.m. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says we think the Vikings want one of the top left tackles but that may not be the case. Souhan says it is possible that the Vikings could be looking at an edge rusher or cornerback.

The NFL draft will take place from Thursday-Saturday with the first round starting Thursday night at 7 p.m. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says because of the demand for left tackles and the shortage of quality at that position the Vikings may need to trade up from #14 to get either Penei Sewell from Oregon or Rashawn Slater from Northwestern.

The Vikings hold the 14th overall pick in the NFL draft to be held at the end of this month. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan says the Vikings may consider taking a quarterback like Justin Fields in the first round at #14 or move up a bit to grab him if he were to drop.
