St. John's Basketball

The St. John's basketball team lost to St. Thomas at home 72-61 Saturday afternoon and the Johnnies season ends. St. John's needed the win to clinch a MIAC playoff spot. St. Thomas is the MIAC conference regular season winner. Aaron Burtzel led the Johnnies with 19 points. St. John's finishes the season with a 14-11 record overall. St. Ben's Basketball falls 80-47 at St. Thomas Saturday afternoon to close the regular season.

The St. John's basketball team defeated St. Mary's 74-67 Wednesday night. The Johnnies trailed by 7 at halftime but outscored the Cardinals 43-29 in the 2nd half. Andy Burns led the Johnnies with 21 points including hitting 5-10 from 3-point range.

The St. John's basketball team trailed 47-24 at halftime but rallied to beat Gustavus 96-88 in overtime in St. Peter Monday night. Aaron Burtzel led the Johnnies with 32 points and 7 rebounds, and Andy Burns added 22 points.

The St. John's basketball team routed Concordia-Moorhead Saturday 74-48. St. John's was led by Aaron Burtzel with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The Johnnies improve to 12-10 overall and 8-9 in the MIAC. St. Ben's basketball lost 76-62 Saturday afternoon in Moorhead to Concordia. Amy Stifter led the Blazers with 11 points and they drop to 18-5 overall this season.

The St. John's basketball used a big first half to beat Macalester in St. Paul Wednesday night. The Johnnies led 37-26 at halftime and held on in the 2nd half. Andy Burns, Todd Herman and Nermin Hujdurovic each scored 16 points for the Johnnies and Hujdurovic added 9 rebounds.

The St. John's basketball team lost 59-54 Wednesday night in Collegeville. St. John's led by 8 at halftime and couldn't hold the lead in the 2nd half. Aaron Burtzel led the Johnnies with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Nermin Nujdurovic added 12 points and 10 rebounds for St. John's.

The St. John's basketball team defeated Bethel 77-53 in Arden Hills Monday night. Andy Burns led the Johnnies with 13 points and Aaron Burtzel added 9 points and 11 rebounds.

The St. John's basketball team defeated Hamline 82-68 Wednesday night. The Johnnies led 42-25 at halftime. Sam Blank led the Johnnies with 19 points and Aaron Burtzel added 13 points and 15 rebounds.

The St. John's basketball team ended a 5-game losing streak with an 84-68 home win against St. Mary's Monday night. Aaron Burtzel led the Johnnies with 26 points and 8 rebounds and Burtzel surpassed 1,000 points in his career.
