The St. Ben's basketball team defeated Augsburg 70-60 in Minneapolis Wednesday night. Cassie Dorschner led the Blazers with 20 points and Whitney Canton added 15 for St. Ben's. The Blazers shot 54 percent from the field while Augsburg shot 33 percent. St. Ben's trailed by 5 at halftime and had lost 3 straight games heading into last night's game.
The St. Ben's basketball team lost to Macalester in St. Paul 71-56 Monday night. Beka Schwendemann had 11 points to lead the Blazers. St. Ben's committed 21 turnovers, shot 38 percent from the field and was outrebounded 42-35.
St. Ben's lost 84-75 at home against Gustavus Wednesday night. The Blazers cut a 16-point deficit to 4 points with under 2 minutes left but would get no closer. Sam Larsen led St. Ben's with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Tish Alexander added 15 points. St. Ben's committed 23 turnovers compared to 12 turnovers for the Gusties.
The St. John's Basketball team won their 6th game in a row Saturday 78-71 at Hamline. Seth Marx led the Johnnies with 20 points and Aaron Barmore added 17. St. John's improves to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC. St. John's will play at Gustavus Wednesday at 7:30pm.
The St. Ben's basketball team ended Bethel's 8-game win streak with a 66-56 win over the Royals Wednesday night. Sam Larson led the Blazers with 22 points and 11 rebounds and Whitney Canton had 10 points. Larson was 11-12 from the field and the Blazers shot 60 percent from the field.
The St. Ben's basketball team was beaten badly by St. Thomas 69-40 Monday night. The Blazers shot just 22 percent from the field while St. Thomas shot 38 percent. St. Ben's was led by Jamie Wollin and Brianna Barrett with 8 points apiece. St. Ben's is 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the MIAC.
The Gopher Women's basketball team defeated Air Force 81-46 Wednesday night at Williams Arena. Rachel Banham led the Gophers with 18 points and Katie Loberg added 15 points. Minnesota led 47-23 at halftime and shot 48 percent from the field and Air Force shot 36 percent.
The St. Ben's basketball team defeated St. Catherine 90-63 Wednesday night in St. Joseph. Brianna Barrett led the Blazers with 17 points and both Jamie Wollin and Tish Alexander each added 11 points for St. Ben's. The Blazers shot 51 percent while St. Catherine shot 32 percent.
The St. Ben's basketball team lost 54-50 to St. Mary's in Winona Monday night. St. Ben's led by 4 points with 1 minute left but couldn't hold the lead. Whitney Canton had 17 points and Brianna Barrett added 10 points for St. Ben's. The Blazers shot 38 percent from the field and were outrebounded 40-31.
The St. Ben's basketball has dominated the series with Augsburg over the years but Augsburg broke through and beat St. Ben's 61-50 Wednesday night. Augsburg hadn't beaten St. Ben's since 1986. The Blazers trailed 31-19 at halftime and turned the ball over 27 times. St. Ben's shot 39 percent while Augsburg shot 43 percent.
