Cold Snap Lowers Flood Forecast For 2 Minn. Rivers

The recent cold snap in Minnesota has pushed down the forecasted flood crests of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers by more than one foot, but state officials says residents along the rivers shouldn't relax. An updated flood forecast for Minnesota released Friday afternoon still predicts major flooding up and down the Red River Valley.

The National Weather Service says a Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) night for parts of our listening area. Counties included in the warned area include: Douglas, Todd, Morrison, Mille Lacs, and Benton.

Sauk, Mississippi Rivers Starting To Rise

The Sauk and Mississippi Rivers in St. Cloud are starting to rise. However, both are still well below flood stage. The National Weather Service's Hydrologic Prediction Service says both rose slightly over the weekend, but both are still about two-feet below action stage.
