Minnesota left All-Star third baseman Miguel Sano off its roster for the Twins' AL wild-card playoff game against the New York Yankees after he failed to fully recover from an injured left shin.

The Twins won at Kansas City 7-5 Sunday after winning the only other game played in the series on Friday night. Miguel Sano was solid at the plate going 3-5 with a 3-run homerun and 5 RBIs, Kennys Vargas was 2-5, Jorge Polanco went 2-5 with 1 RBI and Brian Dozier was 2-5 with a run scored.
The Twins lost 8-7 in Boston to the Red Sox Sunday. The Red Sox scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning and added 5 more in the 5th inning. Tommy Milone allowed 8 runs (4 earned) in 4 2/3 innings to take the loss for the Twins.
