Most of America might look forward to Memorial Day because it gives us a three-day break from our hectic work lives and an excuse to grill great gobs of red meat over an open pit, but it’s intentions are much nobler.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 28th, 2012. Many places will remain open, but a few places will be closed or have adjusted Holiday hours.

There are a handful of Memorial Day events planned around the area this weekend. Metro Vets and the St. Cloud VA encourage all citizens to participate in the National Moment of Remembrance, and pause for one minute at 3:00 p.m.

Memorial Day is known as the unofficial start of grilling season. So does that mean you will be firing up your barbecue come May 28?

Ah, Memorial Day, the 3-day unofficial start to summer in Minnesota. Tens of thousands of us will pack-up the car and head north to the cabin for a retreat from life.  Even if it could be a little chilly or rainy. But even if you're not going anywhere, the Memorial Day Weekend can still be relaxing and fun at home. In fact, staying home for Memorial Day means you'll beat all that traffic, high gas
