Snow and freezing temps are near and it has the Minnesota Department of Transportation construction crews scrambling to finish paving projects around the region.
The Highway 25 road project in Monticello is entering its final phase this week. Traffic will be routed onto newly paved northbound lanes of Highway 25 either tomorrow or Friday.
Traffic will be switched onto the newly constructed lanes of Highway 25 in Monticello Monday. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will make the switch north of the city after the morning rush hour September 19th.
The state government shutdown has made life difficult for officials at the Minnesota Department of Transportation who are trying to complete projects before winter. We already told about some projects that have been pushed back to next year, but there are some that were impacted by the shutdown.
Traffic is being detoured as part of the Highway 25 road project east of Monticello. The road project includes road closures and intermittent lane closures as intersections are widened and turn lanes are installed.
