The group that's pushing to ban gay marriage in Minnesota's constitution has raised $1.4 million so far in 2012, considerably less than what's been raised by its chief opponent.
The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis says it contributed $650,000 last year to support a proposed constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage.
The Rules Committee of the Minnesota House has narrowly approved a floor vote on the constitutional gay marriage amendment. The committee voted 13-12 Wednesday to put the issue before the full House. The committee's Republican majority voted in favor, with one defection from Rep. Tim Kelly of Red Wing.
There's going to a lot of talk about gay marriage in Minnesota, if the State Legislature votes to put the question on the ballot in November of 2012. Two men who will be leading that discussion in the St. Cloud area have very opposing views on the issue.
