A $7-million affordable housing project in Cold Spring has been pulled. During tonight's (Tuesday) city council meeting Mayor Bob Thelen stated Sand Companies have withdrawn their proposal of constructing a 32-unit housing project on tax-forfeited land in the Blue Heron Heights neighborhood.

Minneapolis Council Votes for Plastic Bag Ban, Paper Bag Fee

The Minneapolis City Council has voted to ban plastic bags at store checkouts. The council voted 10-3 Friday for the ban and to impose a 5-cent fee on each paper bag, exempting people getting government food benefits from the fee.
