Dozens of students who walked out of a St. Paul high school to protest the trespassing arrest of a former student met with the mayor to vent their demands.

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman is proposing a 2-cent per drink sales tax statewide to finance a new Vikings stadium and resolve other stadium issues. Coleman says a statewide asset like the Vikings "deserves a statewide commitment."

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman says he's not yet willing to support a new Minnesota Vikings stadium north of his city in Ramsey County. Coleman says he wants a better idea of how his constituents will benefit in relation to the taxes they'll pay.

Construction crews are starting a $243 million renovation that will turn St. Paul's historic Union Depot back into a hub for trains and buses. Demolition begins Tuesday after a groundbreaking ceremony with elected officials including U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman. Crews will start clearing space for train tracks and bus lanes.
