A record 3,000 wreaths have been placed at the gravestones of soldiers at the Minnesota State Veterans' Cemetery. The Civil Air Patrol squadrons of St. Cloud and Crow Wing help lay the wreaths last Saturday near Camp Ripley.
It's not quite fall yet, but Minnesota snowplow operators already are getting ready for winter. The Minnesota Department of Transportation opened a two-week training program for snowplow drivers Monday at Camp Ripley near Little Falls.
A retiree appreciation day will be held on Saturday at Camp Ripley. Retirees from all branches of the armed forces, and their family members, are eligible to attend.
Four soldiers from Camp Ripley are leaving today (Wednesday) for Iraq. They will ensure military equipment is prepared to leave Iraq over the next year, during Operation New Dawn.
