The Albany girls basketball team defeated Minnehaha Academy 60-52 Friday night in the Class AA State Semifinals to advance to the State Championship Game. The Huskies trailed 29-26 at halftime but rallied in the 2nd half for the win.
The Albany girls basketball team defeated Rochester Lourdes 58-41 Wednesday night at Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus in the Class 2-A State Tournament quarterfinals.
Albany defeated Spectrum 87-64 Wednesday night at St. John's University in the Section 6-2-A semifinals. The Huskies led 46-26 at halftime and held on to win. Sam Hondl led Albany with 28 points, Zeke Austin added 23 points and Andrew Olson chipped in 18 points.
Albany will play Holdingford in the girls basketball Section 6-2-A final Friday at St. Cloud State. The top seeded Huskies had no trouble with upset minded 12th seeded Annandale by posting a 78-34 win at St. John's Wednesday night.
Kimball's Luke Ashbrook is the individual leader after the first round of the Class AA State meet at the Ridges of Sand Creek in Jordan. He shot a 70 in the first round. Albany's Zac Kreuzer is tied for 12th place after shooting at 74.
The Albany boys golf team won the section 6-2-A meet at Blackberry Ridge Tuesday coming from behind to defeat Pequot Lakes by just 4 strokes. Cathedral finished 3rd and Staples-Motley finished 4th.
The boys and girls section 6-2-A meet at Blackberry Ridge took place with first round action Monday. Pequot Lakes leads on both the boys and girls sides entering today's final round.
