ST. CLOUD -- Stearns County is holding a public hearing in February on whether to allow electric bicycles on county trails.

It comes on the heels of the Minnesota Legislature changing state law to say electric bikes with motors fewer than one-thousand watts are exempt from motorized vehicle trail restrictions.

The board of commissioners will be deciding whether to allow the electric bikes on county pedestrian and bike trails to comply with the new state law.

The public hearing will be February 11th as part of the county's regular board meeting.
