ST. PAUL (AP) — The Minnesota State Patrol is appealing to the public for help solving the hit-and-run death of a 10-year-old girl last week.

Caylin Donovan of Lake Park was struck and killed just before 8 p.m. Friday as she walked along Minnesota Highway 18 in the Mille Lacs Lake area.

The patrol said Tuesday it's possible the driver did not know the girl was struck.

State Patrol chief, Col. Matt Langer, says the girl was visiting family in the area and was out on the road to get a better cellphone signal.

Langer says any information could help solve the case.
