State Amateur Baseball: Sartell Falls, Kimball Advances
COLD SPRING -- Here's the latest from on how local teams did in the state amateur baseball tournament today:
Waconia Lakers 3, Sartell Muskies 2
The Lakers pushed across one run in the top of the ninth to defeat the Muskies on Sunday afternoon.
The game was a pitching duel for the most part, with each starter going the complete nine innings. The Lakers got 11 hits off of Sartell's Adam Wenker, but Wenker was often able to get out of jams and keep the Muskies in the game.
Tim Burns had the big hit for Sartell, a game-tying two-run home run in the sixth inning, but that was all for the Huskies as Waconia starter Kodey Simon allowed only three hits for the game.
Kimball Express 4, Ada Athletics 3
The Express rallied late to beat the Ada Athletics on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 3-1 for the majority of the game, Kimball scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take the lead.
Shortstop Jordan Joseph had a huge game for the Express, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.
Outfielder Austin Ruehle added two hits and first baseman Kyle Winter got a clutch single that scored two for Kimball in the win.
