St. Paul Police Release Hours Of Video From Protests [VIDEO]

ST. PAUL (AP) - The St. Paul Police Department has released hours of video from protests that resulted in nearly 70 arrests near the governor's mansion.

Police say they released the video to be transparent.

Demonstrators had been on Summit Avenue for weeks to protest the killing of a black man by a suburban officer. Philando Castile was killed July 6 during a traffic stop.

A total of 69 protesters were arrested Tuesday and Wednesday. Protesters claimed police were excessive, and posted video of officers carrying people away.

Police spokesman Steve Linders says the squad car video shows officers were reasonable and conducted themselves professionally for a long period. He says individuals don't get to dictate the terms of their arrest.
