St. Paul Officer Dies Of Medical Condition

ST. PAUL, (AP) — A 30-year-old St. Paul police officer who twice received the department's Life Saving Award has died of a medical condition.

According to a department news release, Officer Josh Lynaugh died early Saturday from complications of a medical condition that arose while he was on patrol Feb. 8.

Police spokesman Howie Padilla says he couldn't elaborate on what happened to Lynaugh, but he said it had not been the result of an assault.

Police say no further information on the condition or the nature of the call in which he was involved was available Saturday.

Saint Paul Police Chief Tom Smith says he had been with the department for five years and earned 16 commendations and letters of recognition.

Lynaugh's father retired as a St. Paul police sergeant.
