MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - St. Thomas offensive tackle David Simmet and St. John's running back Sam Sura are among four finalists for the 2015 Gagliardi Trophy.

The other two finalists announced Tuesday are Wesley College quarterback Joe Callahan and quarterback Matt Pawlowski of Guilford College.

The Gagliardi Trophy honors the best football player in Division III. The trophy is named after former St. John's football coach John Gagliardi, who retired with 489 career victories, most in college football history.

Simmet and the Tommies host Linfield in the national semifinals Saturday. The senior is the starting right tackle on an offense that led D3 in scoring (56.4 points per game) and finished third in total offense (564.8 yards per game) during the regular season.

The Gagliardi Trophy will be presented Dec. 16 in Salem, Virginia.
