ST. CLOUD — Drive down County Road 75 and you’ll notice a new addition to the St. Cloud sky line.
The city is in the process of installing their fifth water tower. Pat Shea is the Director of Public Services. He says with the growth community, adding a water tower to the south side of town was vital.
“From the New Tech High School, the industrial park, Marco, Coborns a lot of the growth is coming to the south side of town so we’re seeing more and more development.”
The 120 foot tall structure costs roughly $4-million to build and will give the city an extra 1.5 million gallons of water.
“Overall we have about 8.5-million gallons of storage currently and this tower will add an additional 1.5-million.”
Along with St. Cloud residents the new water tower will also help serve residents in the St. Augusta.
The city will be reducing traffic on Clearwater Road from 43rd Street South to Heatherwood Road to finish up some utility work starting at 6:00 p.m Wednesday.
Shea says they expect to have the water tower operational by the fall.
