ST. CLOUD -- Nothing will go to waste this summer thanks in part to St. Cloud State University students.

They're donating unwanted items to local secondhand stores as they move out for the summer. SCSU is accepting new and gently used personal and household items, school supplies, small appliances and non-perishable food.

Beth Knutson-Kolodzne is the Associate Director of Campus Involvement. She says SCSU is also partnering with the post office in town to help donate food.

"We work together to collect either new or gently used items... sometimes we partner with organizations, these last two years we've partnered with the postal service, and they're doing a stamp out hunger campaign so all food donated will go to that effort."

Knutson-Kolodzne says the program donates a lot of items that normally would have gone to the landfill.

Items can be brought to the Ervin House, Atwood, Coborn Plaza Apartments and all residential halls until 4:00 p.m. next Friday.

Everyone is welcome to donate.
