ST. CLOUD  (AP) - A St. Cloud police officer has placed second in an international powerlifting competition in Finland.

Thirty-six-year-old Nick Tylutki was runner-up in his weight class at the International Powerlifting Federation World Championships earlier this month.

It's Tylutki's best finish in nine appearances, but he says he could have taken first if he had been able to finish a 744-pound deadlift that he got up to his knees.

Tylutki worked as a software programmer before joining the St. Cloud Police Department seven years ago. He's a SWAT team operator who patrols southern St. Cloud at night. He says learning to calm his nerves during competitions has helped him in his police work.
