St. Cloud Man Struck, Killed While Walking Across Highway 23

ST. CLOUD - One man was killed and another arrested in a deadly crash on Highway 23 in east St. Cloud. The State Patrol says it happened at about 8:40 p.m. last (Wednesday) night at the intersection with 14th Avenue Southeast.

Fifty-six-year-old James Olsen of St. Cloud was walking across the highway against the light when he was struck by two vehicles and killed.

Both cars were traveling west on Highway 23.

One of the drivers, 27-year-old Jason Rau of St. Cloud, fled the scene. He was arrested later.

The other driver, 51-year-old Mary Larcom of Sartell, was not hurt.

Larcom's vehicle struck Olsen first, then Rau struck him a second time as he changed lanes to the right and tried to pass Larcom's vehicle.
