ST. CLOUD - A St. Cloud man has been sentenced to 40-years in prison for assault and kidnapping against his ex-girlfriend.  The Stearns County Attorney's Office says 42-year-old Dale Lott was found guilty on felony kidnapping and assault and a 5th degree assault charge.

Records show the woman was drinking with Lott at a St. Cloud bar last May when she tried to break up with him.  Lott then drove the woman against her will toward St. Augusta.  He refused to let her out of the vehicle, repeatedly punched her in the face and head and threatened to kill her and himself.  Lott's punches knocked out the woman's three front teeth and gave her a concussion.

Lott also punched the woman's mother in the face when she confronted him about the assault.

A Stearns County judge ruled that Lott is a danger to public safety because of his lengthy criminal history.  The judge sentenced Lott to the maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.  As part of his sentence, Lott must also pay restitution and register as a predatory offender.
