St. Cloud Man Sentenced in Violent Sexual Assault Case

ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud man has been sentenced for a violent sexual assault against his girlfriend last year. Stearns County Judge Frederick Grunke sentenced 29-year-old Cody Sullivan to about 12 1/2 years in prison.

The woman told police Sullivan raped her, pulled out her hair, and threatened to kill her. Records show he also slapped her and held his hand over her mouth and nose causing difficulty breathing.

The assault took place June 28, 2015 at a home in the 500 block of 54th Avenue North in St. Cloud.

The woman suffered injuries to her rectum from the rape and was treated at the hospital.

A jury convicted Sullivan on first degree criminal sexual conduct in November.
