ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud man faces a burglary charge after allegedly trying to break into a St. Cloud home last Friday evening.

The Stearns County Attorney's office has charged 38-year-old Ray Johnson with one count of first degree burglary.

According to the criminal complaint, a resident in the home heard a crash in the southwest area of the house just after 9:30 p.m. The resident then saw a suspect, later identified as Johnson, holding a baseball bat and trying to unlock the glass door that was broken.

Records show Johnson continued trying to unlock the door while poking the bat at the resident. The witness told authorities Johnson threw the bat at him and fled on foot.

Johnson was arrested nearby about an hour later.
