ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud Hospital's Hospitality House is more than doubling in size. The St. Cloud City Council gave their approval for the expansion project this (Monday) evening, by amending the current Planned Unit Development.

The Gorecki Guest House opened in 2009 with 12 rooms. The addition will add another 16 rooms.

Some hospital neighborhood residents spoke out against the project. Michael Hutt says his house is right across the street.

However, at least one neighbor likes the facility. Jane Brown says it's good for the Hester Park neighborhood.

Designs for the expansion will be the next step. CentraCare says they plan to get input from the neighborhood coalition as the project moves forward.

Ben and Dorothy Gorecki of Milaca have made a $1 million donation to help pay for the addition. The Gorecki's also made a $1 million donation in 2008 to help with the initial construction.

Since it opened, the guest house has served more than 8,600 guests from 83 Minnesota counties, as well as guests from several countries.
