ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud city council is moving forward with a plan to tear down an abandoned home.  The council voted unanimously this (Monday) evening to demolish the home at 113 14th Avenue South.

They declared the building a "hazardous property" back in June. The homeowner, Cara Sylvester, was required to remove or repair the building. However, since that time neither has happened.

The city still has to wait for a court hearing on October 30th for the judge to give their okay. The demo work is expected to take place in November. The cost is estimated to be nearly $13,000, plus the cost to remove any hazardous materials. The company JM hauling has been approved to do the work. Sylvester will be billed for the work. The vacant lot would still be owned by Sylvester.

The home has not had any occupants in nearly two years.
