ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud City Council has cleared the way for commercial development near 33rd Street South and Highway 15. During last (Monday) night's meeting, the council approved amending the Planned Unit Development for Stonegate.

The action converts roughly 30 acres of the original development plan from multi-family residential to commercial land. It's near the intersection of 33rd Street South and County Road 74, just to the east of the new Highway 15 interchange.

Homeowner Phyllis Klineschmidt says her quiet neighborhood is changing fast.

It's going to change, and it's going to change big time for us. There's going to be a lot of people and a lot of traffic quite near our patio home.

The Lumber One Development Company owns the land. They say they have no specific businesses lined-up yet, but they'd like to bring in a neighborhood grocery store, as well as a variety of other businesses and office buildings.
