ST. CLOUD - The Paramount Theatre in downtown St. Cloud is getting new seats. The city council has approved a plan to replace the aging seats.

The Paramount Arts Resource Trust - the non-profit organization that runs the city-owned facility - estimates it will cost nearly $400,000. The city will pay for the entire cost up front, using existing money in the Food and Beverage tax fund. The Paramount Arts Resource Trust pledges to repay about half the cost through fundraising efforts.

Installation of the new seats would happen in May and June of next year.

The current seats were bought used in the mid-1990s from the Stewart Hall auditorium at St. Cloud State University. They date back to 1948.
