ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud could soon be getting an upgrade to the city-owned streetlights. The city council has approved entering into a contract agreement with Apex Efficiency Solutions to replace the current streetlights with new L-E-D lights.

Public Services Director Pat Shea says there's no cost to the city, if the project can pay for itself in 20 years.

We're looking at about $7.1 million in investment into the system. And then energy savings and operational savings will be $477,000 in annual savings.

The city plans to replace more than 2000 street lights, about 3,200 traffic lights, and 525 pedestrian crossing lights.
