Early this morning one of our Chanhassen Deputies arrested a party who was trying to match his speed to his Blood Alcohol level… two very dangerous combinations that earned a night in jail.

The Carver County Sheriff's Office posted the two pictures that showed a radar screen, followed by the picture of a breathalyzer.

The driver was clocked going 104 miles an hour with a BAC of .124, more than the legal limit of .08.

Minnesota's legal limit for impaired driving is .08, but any amount of alcohol can impair your driving abilities, and you don't need to be over .08 to be arrested in Minnesota, that is up to the law enforcement officer.

According to the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, a citation for driving while intoxicated in Minnesota can result in:

  • The consequences for driving impaired will vary for each DWI offender, but a typical penalty for a first-time offender is potential jail time and loss of license for a minimum of 30 days up to a year.

  • Costs can be as high as $20,000 when factoring in court costs, legal fees and increased insurance premiums.

The driver was arrested as a result of the stop, the driver's identity wasn't made available by the Sheriff's Office.
