NEVIS  (AP) -- Authorities have identified the teenager who died after he and another young man crashed through the ice on a north central Minnesota lake.

The Hubbard County Sheriff's Department says the two 18-year-old Brownton men were towing a fish house with a snowmobile on Third Crow Wing Lake when they hit open water near the mouth of the Crow Wing River about 7 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Authorities say Thomas Plendl was able to climb onto an ice shelf, then went back in the water to try to find Lukas Neubarth, but was unable to locate him. The search for Neubarth was suspended because of darkness and blizzard conditions. Sheriff's officials say Neubarth's body was recovered Dec. 31 about 12:30 p.m. in the area where the two became submerged.
