BUFFALO -- A short police chase in a stolen vehicle led to a St. Joseph's man arrest in Wright County early this (Thursday) morning.

The incident happened at around 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 55 and 1st Street Northeast in Buffalo.

The Wright County Sheriff's office says a deputy noticed a 2001 Chevy Impala speeding behind him. The officer attempted to stop the driver but lost sight of the vehicle.

A few minutes later deputies received a call a 2010 Ford pickup was stolen. 31-year-old Brent Morris, of Silver Lake, says he was helping a driver who drove a Chevy Impala into the ditch, when the driver assaulted him and drove away in his 2010 Ford pickup.

A short time later deputies found Morris's pickup speeding near the intersection of Highway 55 and 1st Street Northeast. A short chase began before the driver lost control, struck a power pole, and fled on foot.

Another short chase began before deputies were able to find the driver.

27-year-old Jeremy Sterzinger, of St. Joseph, was arrested for fleeing, robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and driving after revocation.

He was taken to Buffalo Hospital for his injuries and will be booked into the Wright County Jail upon his release.
