ST. PAUL (AP) - Prosecutors in Ramsey County are seeking a 30-year prison term for the man convicted of killing his wife and dumping her body in the Mississippi River.

Sentencing guidelines call for a maximum 15 years in prison. Jeffery Trevino is scheduled to be in court Monday afternoon for sentencing.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that in a memo to the court, assistant Ramsey County attorney Andrew Johnson said Kira Steger's family, friends, law enforcement officers and others searched for her body for months in the cold and snow while Trevino knew exactly where it was.

A Ramsey County jury convicted the 39-year-old Trevino of second-degree unintentional murder last month. Steger, who grew up near Wausau, Wis., went missing the night of Feb. 21.
