UPDATE: Rice Man in Serious Condition After Morning Crash

Steven Wright

ST. JOSEPH — Stearns County authorities have released more information on a morning crash between a semi truck and a pickup in St. Joseph Township.

The crash happened at the intersection of Minnesota Street and County Road 2 just before 10:00 a.m.

Sheriff’s officials say a pickup driven by 48-year-old Lee Meyer of Rice was making a left turn from Minnesota Street onto County Road 2 when his truck was hit by the semi. The crash pinned Meyer inside his vehicle. Rescue crews extricated Meyer, who was then taken to St. Cloud Hospital where he’s listed in serious condition.

The driver of the semi was 29-year-old Anthony Bruemmer of Sartell. He was treated at the scene.

Bruemmer was hauling several large propane tanks so authorities called in the Minnesota Hazmat team to assist with the tanks. There were no propane leaks as a result of the crash.
