MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - An attempt by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to mark his Green Bay Packers' allegiance on the new Minnesota Vikings stadium didn't go as planned.

Walker signed a piece of steel destined for the stadium during a recent campaign stop at fabrication shop in Wisconsin. Walker scrawled "Go Packers" on a beam at the River Steel factory in West Salem, Wisconsin. Walker later boasted about it at an appearance in Schofield Friday.

An executive for Mortenson Construction, the company building the stadium in Minneapolis, says the message was erased from the steel beam. Senior Vice President John Wood says it could easily be removed with a power grinder.

Wood says River Steel is a supplier to the main steel fabricator, LeJeune Steel of Minneapolis.
