UNDATED (WJON News) -- The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is holding the first of four Free Park Days on Saturday.

The DNR waives vehicle parking permits for the day to encourage people to get out and enjoy nature at one of the 74 state parks and recreation areas.

There is a Free Park Day for every season of the year and the spring Free Park Day is always held on the Saturday after Earth Day. It's a time to experience increased wildlife activity, observe the blooming of flowers and wild plants, and go hiking.

Some parks will have free programs that you can participate in.

For more details on which parks have programming, visit the state parks events calendar online.
