FARMINGTON (AP) - A Cottage Grove woman injured when a bull escaped its pen and charged through the crowd at the Dakota County Fair is in satisfactory condition.

Barbara Goggins was airlifted from the Farmington fairgrounds to Hennepin County Medical Center after the incident the night before. Eight people were hurt but only Goggins required hospitalization.

Sheriff's deputy Matthew Regis stepped in the path of the bull and fired two shots at it. Regis was treated at a hospital and released.

The bull's owner says he believes the animal got spooked by ATV that deputies were riding to corral it. But Dakota County Sheriff's Capt. Joe Leko says the officers had no choice once the bull escaped into a crowd of up to 500 people.
