UNDATED - With the approaching holiday season comes the annual tradition of hanging Christmas lights.

Once again this year, officials remind you to recycle your old tangled clump of lights and replace them with new energy efficient LED lights.

The Recycling Association of Minnesota says their goal this year is to recycle 200,000 light strands.  You can drop-off your old holiday lights at any participating Ace Hardware store, or other participating locations.

They say running LED lights on one six-foot tree for 12 hours a day for 40 days can save 90% or more energy, compared to traditional incandescent holiday lights.
