Public Invited To Name New U Of Minnesota Rose
CHANHASSEN (AP) - The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is asking the public to submit ideas for naming a new pink rose.
The shrub rose, known as "Rosa 66," is slated to make its marketplace debut in 2012. The rose was developed at the University of Minnesota and is exclusive to the arboretum.
The rose features a scalloped, double-petal bloom. It's a hardy plant that can endure Minnesota's climate and is resistant to black-spot disease.
Fewer than 100 test plants are available. A grouping of the roses can be seen at the arboretum's Cloister Garden.
Entries can be submitted in person at the arboretum's Oswald Visitor Center or online.
