MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The financially ailing Postal Service has added 88 Minnesota locations to the list of those being considered for closing.

The agency said Tuesday it will study 3,653 local offices, branches and stations for possible closing. Many of those may be replaced by Village Post Offices in which postal services are offered in local stores, libraries or government offices.

In Minnesota, Postal Service spokesman Peter Nowacki says the list includes 88 sites out of 882 total.

Even the state's biggest cities are affected. Four of the sites are in Minneapolis, two in St. Paul and three in Duluth.

Earlier, the post office placed 28 sites in Minnesota under review. Coming under review doesn't necessarily mean an office will close.
