MONTEVIDEO (AP) - A Minnesota father is accused of leaving his toddler in a car with the engine running while he got drunk in a bar.

Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher Jasperson, of Montevideo, is charged with gross misdemeanor child endangerment. He remained jailed Thursday on $6,000 bail.

Police say officers were called to a bar in Montevideo Feb. 14 and found the 2-year-old child sleeping in the car. Authorities say they found Jasperson inside the bar and a blood test registered a blood alcohol content of 0.23 percent, which is nearly three times the limit for driving in Minnesota.

The child was turned over to a relative. The temperature at the time Jasperson was arrested was 14 degrees. Online court records do no list an attorney for Jasperson in this case.
