MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - University of Minnesota police say no foul play is suspected in the death of Gophers football player Gary Tinsley.

The 22-year-old from Florida was found dead in his campus apartment Friday morning.

University Police Chief Greg Hestness says police aren't aware of any pre-existing medical conditions that might have caused Tinsley's death. They're awaiting autopsy results.

Coach Jerry Kill calls it a "very, very sad day." And quarterback MarQueis Gray says Tinsley was a great brother, a great teammate and a great friend.

Tinsley finished his eligibility after last season. He had some off-field problems early in his Minnesota career but started every game over his final two years. He was weeks away from his degree. School officials say he will get his diploma posthumously at a ceremony next month.
