Police: Alcohol Believed To Play Factor in Car vs Semi Crash Near Richmond

RICHMOND -- A Cold Spring woman is hurt after striking a semi near Richmond Thursday.

The incident happened just before 2:00 p.m. on County Road 2 near Island Lake Road in Wakefield Township.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 64-year-old Lavonne Stang was heading north she crossed the center line on the curve into on coming traffic.

A semi driven by 59-year-old Eldon Norby, of Kerkhoven, was heading south on the same road. Norby attempted to moved to the shoulder to avoid the crash, but was sideswiped by Stang.

Stang was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
