PETA Protests Mall Of America’s Removal Of Anti-Wool Ads

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Animal rights activists say the Mall of America has taken down their ads opposing the wool industry's treatment of lambs.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which opposes any eating or wearing of animal products, organized a protest Tuesday in downtown Minneapolis.

PETA's ads went up in the Bloomington megamall Dec. 1 for what was supposed to be a one-month run. They show a lamb and say, "I am not a sweater, a scarf or a 'lamb chop."'

PETA campaign coordinator Amber Canavan says the mall removed the ads last Thursday, apparently because of objections from retailers and customers.

The mall, which sells lots of wool clothing, issued a statement saying it will make every effort to ensure similar ads don't go up again.
